The wonderful Miss Kay came to speak with us about the Healing Place last Monday. Dr. Brewton introduced her as being the 2007 Muscle Shoals Woman of the Year. She started by teling us a little about herself. She obtaine a degree in Education from Samford and got her masters at our one and only UNA! After recieving her degrees, Miss kay worked as a secretary for many different offices.
Then she popped the big question on us....."What would you want to do if you did not get paid to do it?" Wow! That made me really think because I honestly did not know. I would probably want to be a dancer in the Lion King Show at Disney World but that is a little far-fetched and probably not the kind of answer she was looking for. So I tried to skim a litter deeper and think of what I might do because it would kind of stink to not get paid for any job because things these days are so expensive, one reason she is such a wonderful person, but back to Miss Kay.
She stressed to us that just because your major or occupation doesn't "fit" you does not make you a failure. Because sometimes God calls the ordinary people to do extraordinary things! She was working in a cancer treatment center when she and a friend decided to develop the Healing Place. The nurses Brother built them a house to start out in.
The Healing Place's goals:
-help the grieving
-help children with decsions
